Can you change the interval between automatic time updates on XP? I
think it does it every week or 10 days or so, but my server's clock is
loosing abour 30 seconds a day for some reason so I want to update it
every day. (I have security cameras that have to synchronize with the
server once a day).

Many thanks for any help.

Locate and install another time sync setting program. These can
update the time in internals of minutes to days.

Is the BIOS clock losing time. If it is it is tome to replace the BIOS
battery.

Hope this helps.

Its a new computer! Less than 3 months old.

You can change the sync time interval by a registry change (edit)
Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\current control
set\services\w32time\timeproviders\NTP client
In the right panel--Special Poll Interval
Set decimal time in seconds right click--modify.

Perfect! Thank you - I don't have access to my server from work, but
on my office machine now it says 3600, which means it polls every hour?

Desktop. Always connected.

Thanks Jim for compliment <G>.

We had two cats. My daughters named them Moriarty and Macavity. Macavity
enjoyed a long life. Moriarty was not so fortunate.

That is correct. You can verify by control panel--date and time--internet
time tab. It will tell you last sync time.

My office machine does not have any tab for setting the
synchronization - I guess its a different version of XP from my
server. Both of them are XP Pro.

If the XP Pro is part of a Windows Server Domain, the network
administration can remove this Internet Time Sync tab.

And indeed it is! You are very knowledgeable!

What makes you think it's my real name?

BTW - the registry setting works like a charm. Thanks. I have no idea
what the SpecialPollTimeRemaining item does, and I may have messed
with it, but everything still works fine.
