how to uninstall Servicepack 2

I have tried everything suggested ( wrote re this MDAC problem befoe) in
order to repair MDAC (get the error message Runtime Error 429 - Active X
component can't create object). I know MDAC is included in SP2 - so if I
could uninstall and reinstall - is that possible and would it fix my problem?

Having reread your previous posts might it not seem that either some sys
files are corrupt, or you are using/installing an app that is not compatible
with Media Centre and, or, sp2 which leads to these problems?

It's preintalled along with Windows XP (have a HP computer). How do I get at
it to uninstall?

Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/KB/875350
"Important If you install Windows XP SP2 on a computer that is already
running Windows XP SP2, you will create a new uninstall folder on your hard
disk drive. This new folder will use 50-100 megabytes of disk space."

Then use the hidden $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder as described the above
KB article.

If the SP2 is pre-installed, then NO, it can not be removed. When SP2 is
"slipstreamed" (merged) into the XP installation, it is no longer a separate
software package. SP2 replaces several core install files on the XP
installation.

You can not. You can only uninstall it if you installed it separately.

Ken,
If you can't uninstall SP2 is there a way to force SP1 to override SP2
during an SP1 install?
