how to unhide hidden cells on far left of workbook

I have hidden cells on the far left of the workbook and now cannot unhide
them. I reeeeemeber there was a trick to doing this when there are no
visible cells to the left, but Help is ttttotally unhelpful.

Have you tried Format|Columns|Unhide?
