How to UNassociate a file extension?

J

Joe

I stupidly reassociated the *.lnk extension with Internet Explorer. Now,
I'm really in a mess. My Start menu programs no longer work. I can't find
the .exe file to run Outlook, etc. etc. etc.

I've gone to control panel, but all it allows is to CHANGE the association;
It doesn't allow me to DELETE the association. And <none> is not given as
an option. What can I do, short of reformatting my Hard drive and starting
from scratch?
