How to turn off spell check auto language detect?

B

Brian

I am running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (12.0.6504.5000) SP2 MSO
(12.0.6425.1000) on Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
Build 2600.

While composing a new email message, for some reason Outlook will detect
that I am composing the email in Italian or German. In at least one case this
appeared to be caused by my first line addressing a Japanese colleague as
Nakamura-san. Words that were spelled correctly were flagged as being in
error. For the specific email I can turn off auto language detect but I
haven't found how I can turn it off for all emails and stick only to English
(US).

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try opening the email template for editing and making the change?

close outlook. Locate NormalEmail.dotm and open it for editing. You'll find
it in the templates folder at
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates (Vista), To easily
access this folder in Windows XP or Vista, paste

%appdata%\Microsoft\Templates\

in the Start search dialog (Vista) or the address bar of Windows Explorer.

Right click on NormalEmail.dotm and choose Open. This will open the template
in Word as a template. Make your changes and save.

Thanks Diane.
I went in and changed NormalEmail.dotm and so far so good. If it doesn't
solve the problem I'll start a new thread with a new question.

Thanks.
