How to turn off annoying logon status bubble?

How do you turn off that cartoon bubble that comes up from the
connection icon?

Turn off "Show icon in notification area when connected" in properties of
your connection in "Network Connection".[This will also disable the icon]
OR download Tweakui to hide Notifications.[This will not disable the icon]

Hi, I think what you are talking about are called "Balloons" and I only know
away to turn all off or on. If you want to get rid of all of them try the
following:

*click Start > Run > type REGEDIT > ENTER

* navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
Advanced

* right-click the right pane, select new > DWORD value > name it
EnableBalloonTips

* double click EnableBalloonTips > give it a value of 0

Disable: 0
Enable: 1

Tip:
'Export' two keys to your Drive, one with the balloons enabled and one
disabled. Then you can easily go back and forth when needed.
