How to turn e-mail into tasks?

Hello,

[Note: I'm using Outlook 2003]

Is there a quick & easy way to turn particular e-mail messages into tasks?
The way I would _like_ for it to work is that if I flag an e-mail message
for follow-up (and maybe only if I set a due date), then show it as a task
in my task list. It just seems natural that I should be able to see all my
"tasks", regardless of source, grouped together in one view. And more
importanly, I only synchronize the task list with my PDA, not e-mail items.

On a related subject, is there a way to make tasks (and/or e-emails) with
due dates show up in the calendar view?

Thanks for any suggestions...

Just drag the email to your Tasks folder.

To create a task from an email message, just drag that email message to your
Tasks folder (or the Tasks banner on the Navigation Pane). This will create
a task with the entire contents of the email message in the body of the
task. It will not, however, link the task and the email message.

Yeah, that's what I was looking for - "linking" the task and the e-mail
together, rather than creating a "copy" of the e-mail in the task list.

As an alternative (although it wouldn't help my PDA problem), I tried
creating a search folder that would show all items that were either flagged
for followup (e-mails) or not completed (tasks). Unfortunately, the
"Advanced" rules tab (for setting the criteria of the search folder) would
not let me specify an "or" condition - i.e., I could not specify "flagged
for followup" OR "not completed".

Anyway, it would be nice if a future version of Outlook had some sort of
"link to task list" checkbox for e-mail messages.

Speaking of which, has Microsoft announced when the next version of Office
will be out, by the way?

Thanks,

Mike
