How to turn AutoPlay back on

N

Neil K.

Hi,

I have a system that I set up over a year ago and I know that I
deliberately went in and turned off autoplay system-wide. Problem is,
I can't remember how I did it, and now I need to turn it back on.

I have:

- Gone to the properties for both my DVD drive and my CD-R drive and
checked the AutoPlay settings. They look good. Just to be safe,
after having no luck, I pressed the "Restore Defaults" button, but
still no joy.
- I ran TweakUI for XP. It's settings said that AutoPlay was on for
both my drives. I cleared the key setting, applied that, then re-set
the setting (back to AutoPlay "on") and applied that. No joy.
- I searched the registry for all entries with "AutoPlay" in them. I
saw nothing that caught my eye. All settings seemed appropriate -
however, I couldn't find device specific settings.

I believe that whatever I did a year ago was in the registry directly,
but I'm not positive.

If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them!

Thanks,
-Neil

You may want to use the Autoplay repair tool:

In Explorer, do to your CD drive. Right click it and choose Properties.
Click on the AutoPlay tab. Choose what you want.
