I have two Hard-drives one of 120Gb and another of 20 Gb. The 120 Gb HD
is divided into two partions each of 60GB, the second HD of 20Gb has one
partition.

I would like to put my O/S on the 20Gb HD which at the present has
program files on it, and transfer those files to one of the 60Gb
partions on the 120 GB HD.

I would also like to redistribute the files on the two 60Gb partitions
on the 120GB HD.

Obviously moving files means that the short-cuts to them will no longer
be valid, are there likely to be any further problems.

What is the best method of doing this efficiently??

Thanks in anticipation

To do all this efficiently; Clean install the o/s, format and install the
rest. You will lose ALL data.
You cannot move an o/s simply, it requires a third party tool. Niether can
you move an app. You may also have problems with drive letter assignments.
You can, however, move data files, simply.
If you are going to attempt all this, ensure you have backed up all data,
and have all the install cd's. You may also have to ammend yr hd setup to
ensure the 'right' hd is seen as C:

Hi Don

Partition Magic will do what you need for about $30 from ebay. You can
easily clone your OS to the 20G partition.

PM can also be used to merge or create partitions for your programs,
then use it's drive mapping options to straighten out your registry.

Programs can go from one drive letter to another and be made to work
again pretty easily by remapping the registry entries automatically.
