There's an RK tool called exctrlst
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/existing/exctrls
t-o.asp) that can stop Performance counter from being loaded. I've seen the
errors that you speak of, but haven't got around to looking into them as
it's only a performance counter problem. But if you want your event log
neat and tidy disable it. The only issue to arise out of this is that
should you ever want to monitor WINS counters, you may not be able to.
Also, if you don't use WINS, you could just uninstall it...
