How to stop unread deleted items appearing in unread mail folder?

Previously, any unread items that appeared in my unread items folder were
only from my inbox. All of a sudden, deleted unread items are also
appearing. Does anyone have any idea what's happened and how I can fix it?!
I know it sounds like a small problem, but it's driving me mad!

Any help gratefully received

Do you have any rules that deleting items before they're read?

Hi,

No, no rules on, altough i seem to have freakishly fixed the problem! I
deleted the folder, and then re-created it. When I looked in my search
folders, there were 2 unread mail folders. I deleted the one that was
showing deleted items as unread, and it seems to have fixed the problem!
