A couple of weeks ago Windows Mail became real sluggish and slow whenever I
click on a particular message folder, or whenever I select a specific message
that's inside a folder, etc. It's really annoying!

I don't have any viruses or malware. Only Windows Mail is acting weirdly.
I don't think it's because my folders/messages are bloated because I now have
a lot fewer messages than I had on my prior machine from which I imported the
Outlook Express 6.x (WinXP) records.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Try compacting the database. Get my Windows Mail Utility to do that:
www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/ That will get rid of wasted space in the database
and it should perform better.

Heartfelt thanks to Steve Cochran and Gary VanderMolen for their responses.
I first tried Steve's links, but had difficulty with the unzipping portion of
the software.

However..... I followed Gary's links and, lo and behold, things worked like
a charm. The sluggishness is gone! (I hope forever). Thanks, Gary.
