How to stop messenger from signing in??

I am stumped as to how to stop messenger from signing in when I log on to my
dial up account. There doesn't seem to be a default setting to not sign in
until I manually do it. If I can't do that, then how do I get rid of the
beast altogether?? Thanks!

MSN Messenger? Go to:Tools>Options>General Tab uncheck the appropriate box(es).
