How to stop banner from repeating on second page of home page?

In working on my home page I created a cell/table (I'm working from an MS
template so I'm not sure which) into which I inserted a lot of text. Which
greatly expanded the height of the cell/table. I don't like long scroll
downs and wanted to breakup the dull expanse of text, so I created a second
page as a sub of the Home page on the Navigation table and cut/pasted a large
segment of text to the second page.

This resulted in a repeat of the banner, link bars, and footer I had
created for the home page. I was happy with the link bars and footer
repeat, but I didn’t want the same banner, which was far too prominent for a
second page. So I decided I would simply delete the unwanted material from
the banner and create a new banner in a more subdued form. Well, when I
looked back at my first page, lo and behold the elaborate banner was gone,
replaced by the puny little one that I had created in what I thought would be
a second, new page.

I suppose that what I should have done was create a new Web site and connect
it to my home page via a hyperlink. But I didn’t, and would like to know if
there is some other way of handling the problem.

Any thoughts and suggestions will be much appreciated. I find the problems
of working with this (to me) very complex program both fascinating and
frustrating.

You have to disable the shared top border from displaying on the second page and replace it with a
table, etc. You can only have a single shared top border within a web.
