How to slow down an Epson 2200!

On some special papers/plastic films I find pigment inks take too long to
dry and the rollers pick up the wet ink leaving vertical bands.

Is there a way to slow down an Epson 2200 so this doesn't happen?

There are times when I would be happy for a print to take a very long time
(3 hours?) just to be sure the ink dried. Just as long as the heads were
parked so the didn't dry out. .

The 2200 inks are pretty slow drying on non absorbent surfaces. I have
been testing them for my cleaning manual, and even in bright sunlight
outdoors which dries fruit to leather takes numerous days to get these
inks to dry on a plastic coated paper.

There is someone selling a device for the 2200 which lifts the wheels
out of the way for this use.

From my Epson cleaning manual:

"For people who are having problems with some slower drying papers and
their 2200 printers, there is a device being sold to "fix" this situation.

This device sells for about $25 US. You can reach the designer, Kim,
at: (e-mail address removed) if you want to know more about it. The
device is a piece of specially molded plastic which holds the rollers
out of the way. Unfortunately, it appears to only fit the 2200 as of
this time.

I cannot comment about the effectiveness of this item one way or the
other as I don't own a 2200 printer and have therefore never used the
device."

Thanks for that. I've had a look at my 2200 and I can see how to lift a few
of the rollers eg to clear the printed part of the document I'm trying to
print. I'll give it a go.
