how to shut off encryption

polina sorkin

i have an hp laptop. recently, it died. i took my
harddrive out, and attached it to my another computer. i
recovered a majority of my files. the only problem is,
before my hp died, i encrypted my "my documents"
directory. now whenever i try to access it, it gives me
an "access denied" error. is there anyway i can recover
the data in that directory? i know the encryption works
off of certain keys. i have the whole harddrive, so if
the keys are on it, i have access to them. please help
me. email me at (e-mail address removed)

thanks
polina

Hi

As you have access to the user profile folders for the user that
encrypted the files and if you remember the password for the user
that encrypted the data, you might be able to save the files.

Take a look at this site for more details:

Hi

The procedure at beginningtoseethelight *is* free, Clark is just
listing some commercial products at the start as an alternative
to do the recovery manually, you do not need them if you follow
his instructions further down at the page.
