How to setup NAT

P

Paul McGuire

I have a w2K server and need to configure NAT so that i can leave or Unix
box on the old Ip set and change the network to a new IP set. Currently we
are 137.100.5.X and i want to go to a private ip of 192.168.0.X. I have 2
NIC cards in the server and would like to use this to save me from changing
the whole network over at one time.

Thanks in Advance.

NAT is used to translate from a private set of IPs into the public Internet
address space. It sounds like what you are asking for would not be solved
solely with NAT.

One solution may be to set up a NAT box. the 137 address is public, and the
192.168 is private. then install a DHCP server on your private network with
the 192.168 address space and the NAT server as your default gateway. then
change all of your private machines to acquire an address from the DHCP
server.
