How to setup DSL connection DUN or Broadband?

Hi,
I have setup DSL connection using DUN and selecting the modem,when
connection is established, connection speed is reported 10 Mbit/s. But
when I create same DSL connection using Broadband connection wizard &
when I connect through new connection,speed is reported 1.2 Mbit/s. Can
some one explain why same ISP connection show different speeds(with
very big difference). Does this effect actual internet speed also?
Is there any bentch mark test for testing internet connection speed?
What is better DUN DSL or Broadband DSL connection type?

My environment: DSL 1.024 kb/s,windows XP home(SP2),1&1 germany ISP

It depends on how your ISP is deploying its system.
The best thing would be calling them and ask.

Thanks,ISP document DSL connection connfigurattion using DUN wizard.
But I have configured using Braodband wizard,it works same way & same
speed. But in connection detail broadband says connected at 1.2 Mbits/s
while DUN connection says 10 Mbits/s.
My question was about this connected speed difference. Any how I have
tested both connection & speed is same.
So for me this reported speed difference is not important now.
