Alright here it is: I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and a Dell Dimension
4700 Desktop with a Wireless Motorola Cable Modem. My laptop has a Netgear
wireless card to access the internet. I need all the help I can get to
figure out how to set up a network with my 2 computers so that I will be able
to use the printer that is attached to my desktop from my laptop and be able
to share files. Please help me out I am clueless. I m not really sure if I
need to buy something else to do this set up or the procedures that I need to
do. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, Completely Lost Non-Computer Person

You're not lost, you started here. ;-)

There are several good websites with instructions. I added some specific advice
which you might find useful.

What model Motorola modem? If it's wireless, it might include actually be a
modem / router; that will let you network the 2 computers, but let's make sure.

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn
may help others in the future, and that's the purpose of these forums.
