How to save a list of my newsgroup preferences for new computer?

MaryL

I am using XP-Home Edition and OE 6.0. It's time for a new computer -- this
one is literally on its "last legs" (if computers had legs). Is there any
way to save a list of the newsgroups I currently subscribe to, along with
the messages that I have flagged to watch? I don't know if I will continue
with OE 6 (which is my preference) or go with OE 7 when I get the new
computer.

Thanks,
MaryL

Try here (see "backup")
OE-Inside Outlook Express: http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/

If not...

You may get an answer in the OE newsgroups.

OE6 newsgroups.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress.stationery

OE General newsgroup:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

(There is no OE7 as yet)

Only if you clone your identity.

Backing up and Cloning your OE Identities:
http://www.insideoe.com/backup/clone.htm

You can export news server settings to CD and import then on the new
machine. You will still have to subscribe to each group, but the account
will ready to go. (Tools | Accounts | News | Export).

P.S. There will never be a newer version of OE. OE6 is the last.

Thanks, Alan and Bruce. Also, you can see that I am not very good at
keeping OE and IE separate in my mind. I had installed IE 7, did not like
it, and reverted to IE 6. From that I assumed (incorrectly) that there was
an OE 7.(

The information the two of you provided is very helpful.
