I'm creating a template for someone and I would like to save a default for
autoshapes. Is this possible?

Jose,
To set the textbox default : rightclick the fpormatted textbox and choose
set autoshape default.
To set the AutoShape default : rightclick a formatted AutoShape and choose
set autoshape default.
That should do it.

Luc,
I don't know that this will work. I think setting autoshape defaults go with
the machine, not with the presentation. (Though there are many days when I
wish it were different, believe me!)

It is here. Different, that is. AutoShape defaults go with the presentation,
that is.

Open one, make a really weirdly formatted rectangle, set it as default, save
the pres.

Start a new blank pres, draw a rectangle and it's back to its old defaults
(whatever's default for the blank template).

Open the original pres, draw another rectangle and ewww, it ugly again.

S'why one of the things I always do when creating custom templates is to make
sure the autoshape defaults and font formatting defaults are set reasonably.

Okay - I sit corrected. I wrote that from memory. Should have done more
checking before I wrote it.
Mea Culpa!

You know, I thought the same thing -- because I do the same thing.

But when I sent the POT file (that I created in PPT 2003 on my home machine)
to myself at the office and tested on that system, the autoshape defaults
I'd set *didn't* come through (in either PPT 2003 or 2000, IIRC).

I think this one may need a bit more testing.

Tua's just human, ain't no culpa.
You watch my back, I watch yours.
When in doubt, distract 'em with a food thread.

Say. You ever heard of something called "chango" or "changa" (I forget which)?
It's a kind of parched corn we got at a Peruvian restaurant t'other day.
If you like corn nuts, this is "died and gone to heaven".

Hm. Did you apply the template or base a new presentation on it?
The defaults only come along when you start a new presentation; they won't
overwrite the defaults in an existing pressie, IIRC.

Changa sounds interesting - I love corn nuts, but they don't like me. Now,
if you are going to talk about other kinds of Peruvian food - I'm there!

(You know, that reminds me - someday I should make April some brincaderos -
they are Brazilian chocolate candies that are just heavenly....)

Tried both ways, actually.

B. Zar.

Created a POT on 2003, saved it both with and w/o any slides included just as a
test.

Started 2000 on another computer and started with worst case: started a new
blank pres and then applied the template w/o slides. Seems my earlier bet was
a bit off: it DOES work when you apply a template to an existing pressie. No
need to start the pressie from scratch.

In short, the goblins have your computer or mine. If it's mine, I kinda like
them there.

Ceviche! Yum!

I'm willing to expand my vocabulary to include "Scrumptious" in Portuguese.
Make extra!

Try that same thing on a *different* computer using your existing template.
(Email the template to yourself on that other machine if you can.) Same
results?

I did do it on a different computer (well, on a copy of PPT running in a
virtual machine on that computer ... different box for all practical
porpoises). But in case this is a different kettle of fishy, I saved the POT
to the network, started PPT on a different physical computer, did File, New,
chose From Design Template from the taskpain, hit Browse, went to the network
drive (see, now we got THREE computers in on the act, cool? <g>) and picked
Mister Template. The one with no slides.

Defaults came along with it.
Mind, this is autoshape defaults ... fill, border color, border thickness/style
'n stuff. Does that

Hm. Thanks for checking. I'll have to re-test here and at work.

You know, I wonder if I'm thinking of the textbox defaults I set. (I set
both textbox defaults and autoshape defaults according to my instrux at
http://tinyurl.com/dppyo )

I was wondering the same thing.

Try it with just fill and such first, then we'll beat on t'other.
