how to retrieve 'lost' IE favorites

My IE Favorites changed to a list that is about a year or so old. I located
my current list in C:\documents and settings\(my name)\favorites but have no
idea how to get them back up to the Favorites pull-down menu. How do I do it
without manually entering each one?

Why dual post?
 
Because the crappy web interface keeps telling them that the attempt to post
was unsuccessful when in fact, it was.
