How to restrict users

Swaroop

Hi,

Please help me restrict user in a stand alone computer
running on XP pro from accessing web mail accounts other
than a particular company webmail account, while connected
to internet through dial-up. The user should only be able
to access the webmail specified and other than that,
nothing should happen like browsing ..... etc

Hi,

You have several options:

1) Install some sort of monitoring software (e.g. Net
Nanny)

2) Use filters in your router to block certain words/sites

3) Be sneaky and create a local hosts file and put entries
of 0.0.0.0 against know webmail addresses. This means that
when the user types webmail address in it will resolve to
0.0.0.0

I would try option 1 then 2 and then 3 but totally up to
you :)

Tim
