How can I limit certain users to only be able to access access one website?
I don't want them to be able to access any other web sites.

That is, I want them to be able to access any web address that begins with
http://www.OurCo.com. But I don't want them to be able to access anything
else on the internet.

Thanks.

You could do so via your corporate firewall.

Open up Internet Explorer, click Tools; Internet Options; Connections; Lan
Settings
click Use a proxy server.....click Advanced . For the http: entry type in a
word such as' nowhere'or an Internet address that doesn't exist. When you do
this you are telling Internet Explorer to use a proxy srever that doesn't
exist. Next check the box next to "Use the same proxy server for all
protocols". Now you have blocked the pc from accesing the Internet. Now you
can enable a setting that will let your PC access only specific sites. In
the exceptions section type the adresses of sites you want access too
seperated by a semicolon(;), this setting tells IE to bypass the proxy server
for those sites you have in exceptions.
This information was taken from "Windows XP Hacks" 100
industrial strength tips and tools by Preston Gralla.
I havn't tried this because I don't need to limit my PC
to specific sites.
But reading your question reminded me of this tip I read in the book. Good
Luck

If you are using a firewall like Microsoft ISA 2000/2004 you can use
firewall rules to restrict access by user. Otherwise a trick often used is
to configure a bogus proxy server for the user in IE and then configure it
to bypass the proxy for your exception. Take a look in IE under
tools/internet options/connections/lan settings and advanced. If you try
such be sure that the user can not access the connections page which can be
done via Group Policy. This all assumes that the user is not a local
administrator and can only use Internet Explorer as their web browser. ---

Where I work, we use just a normal squid linux proxy. our computers can
only access lan pages (one of our lan computer hosts our webpage) and
when we need to access the internet, we need to use the proxy.
It blocks ALL except for sites in the "white list".
those sites are ex. bank pages and such.
you can get squid free ;) Linux required though ;)

Another option is to get a parental controls program from nortons. I
can't remember which program the thing is packaged with. Norton
Internet Security (I think) but I could be wrong. Then make a password
for the parental controls, and set it so that the end user can only go
to websites that you allow. If I remember correctly you can make
nortons run almost completely in the background. It's been several
years since I played around with that program though.

Please list your company name. So that anyone with half a brain will
know not to apply to work for you.
You're welcome. So people check news and stocks once in a while!
BOOHOOHOO.
