How do I go about restoring both Outlook and Outlook Express if I reformat
and reinstall the Operating System? I want all messages, newgroups messages
and other settings related to both products as if I had never reformated and
reinstalled the O/S. Please be specific with your replies.

Thank you in advance for your tips, suggestions and errata.

Which OS are you using? If W2K/XP, for Outlook Express, data files are
located in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{funky number}\Microsoft\Outlook Express, but the address
book should be found in C:\Program Files\Outlook Express. The first is
probably hidden.

hth.

Thank you Eric for your reply. The link was very helpful in finding the
files I would need to copy should I decide to re-install the O/S. Having
information about OE expressly is a bit hard to come by. Documentation for
Outlook on the other hand seems to be quite plentiful.

Again, thank for your help!

Allegedly everything you need to know about backing up and restoring OE
files is here: http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/backup/

You're welcome...and thanks for the feedback!

The link to oehelp.com contains, or has links to, procedures and software for
backing up and restoring OE. Don't be misled by some that seem to be for IE5
only...they usually work for IE6 as well.
