Does anyone know how you would go about restoring a group policy. Does it
involve restoring the system state and copy the guid of the policy to the
sys vol share. Does that mean you need to take note of GUID's of the group
policy. would you need to use a 3rd party product.

Hello, If you have deleted the policy from Active Directory, You have to
restore System Sate and the GUID of the particular policy to the SYSVOL
store.

You have to start the server in Directory Service Restore Mode and
performing an Authoritative Restore of the Domain Controller, then it will
not be overwritten.

1. Open a CMD prompt.

2. Type ntdsutil and press Enter.

3. Type authoritative restore and press Enter.

4. Type restore database and press Enter.

5. Press OK.

6. Press Yes.
