I am using Word 2003. While developing some new macros in Word, I inadvertantly wrote over the default "Bold" macro (Ctrl-B). Now, I am not able to use the bold function in Word. How do I reset the default macros bak to their oruginal configuration? I tried removing and reinstalling Office 2003, no help!

In Tools | Customize, click the button for Keyboard..., then find the macro
to which you assigned the Ctrl+B shortcut and remove the assignment.

Suzanne's suggestion is the easiest way to deal with this, but you asked
about default settings and mentioned reinstallation. Note that
reinstallation does not (or should not) change user settings. Macros and
their keyboard assignments are stored in normal.dot along with a load of
other stuff. Renaming normal.dot would return at least that part of Word to
defaults.

Susan Can you help me? I am using Word/Office 2000 Premium. Everytime I use
Word and want a clear new page document to write a letter on, I get an Old
document which I have to erase before I write my new letter. I never had this
problem and I have been using Word for 4 years......Hellppppppppppppppp

From the FAQ:

28. My blank document has text in it - an old letter, etc. See

I've got Word 2007 and have accidentally overwritten my select text or
highlight macro (shift+cursor up/down/left/right). I've tried uninstalling
it and reinstalling it, I've tried going to tools customize keyboard and my
macro isn't there. I'm flipping out because we use Word for all our school
lectures. But it's weird, I tried selecting text in this message using the
shift+left arrow key & it worked. Help please!!

I have a similar problem, I overwrote my shift+arrow key macro (I don't know
if it's highlight or select). I've tried the tools keyboard suggestion, but
my macros aren't there. please help!! all my lectures are given through word

I've got the same problem, I overwrote the shift+arrow key macro (select or
highlight?) and I tried Suzanne's suggestion, but my macro isn't even there.
I've also uninstalled & reinstalled Microsoft Office. please help

There is no macro for these shortcuts; they're built in, and they still work
in Word 2007. If in fact you've assigned the shortcut to some other command,
you can find this out via Office Button | Word Options | Customize: Keyboard
shortcuts: Customize. Enter a given keyboard shortcut next in the "Press new
shortcut key" for any command (doesn't matter which one) and see what is
given for "Currently assigned to." For example, if I press Shift+Left, I see
CharLeftExtend. If you see something different, then scroll to that command
and unassign the shortcut. This should restore it to the default, but you
can check CharLeftExtend just to be sure.
