For some unknown reason my bold quit working in Word 2000. I have even
completely deleted/removed and then reinstalled Word 2000 and it still will
not work. I previously had made a macro (F4) for Bold. I could just hit F4
to toggle it off and on. This quit working, but then all methods of getting
bold do not work. If I hit the B on the toolbar it appears to work, but as
soon as I begin to type it goes away. If I do Ctrl-B it does not recognize
it. Now, if I go to Format and then Font I can select Bold and it will
work, but again to turn it off I have to go back into Format and Font.
Again, I even reinstalled the Word 2000 from scratch and it is still doing
this - any ideas?"????/

Do you have the bold variant of the font you're using installed? Are you by
any chance in draft view?

Yes, the bold is installed for the basic fonts Iam using and I am not in
draft view. It will work if I go to Format and then Font, but not with
Ctrl-B or clicking the icon on the toolbar. ???/

Go to Tools | Customize | Keyboard... and make sure Ctrl+B is still assigned
to Bold. In Tools | Customize, you should be able to also check the button
assignment. Also look in Tools | Macro | Macros for a macro named Bold that
might be hijacking the built-in command.

THANK YOU!!!!!! Yes, I'm yelling with joy. It was a problem with the macro
- I deleted the macro named bold and it is okay. I had a macro assigned for
the F4 key toggling bold off and on. It has been this way for a few years so
I am not sure why the problem came up now, but it is fixed. Thanks so much
- I can do my work now. Kim

Glad we got it figured out.
