How to repair broken TCP/IP stack

I have a Win2Kpro worksta with NortonSysWorks2003 and Pest
Patrol. I received PestPatrol pop-up msg that said it
detected a pest in memory and asked if I wanted to delete
pest from memory and hard drive. Before I responded I
checked to see if anything new had appeared in my program
menu where I found a new shortcut to LycosSideSearch. I
used Add/Remove progs to uninstall LycosSideSearch and
told to PP to remove pest from RAM & HD after which I have
no Internet connectivity. I can ping public IPs on web,
but I cannot ping by name. Opening IE6 browser yeilds 404
err, page not found.
I tried remove/re-install of both NIC driver & TCP/IP
protocol w/o success. I also tried repair install of
W2Kpro but no change. I suspect TCP/IP stack is broken.
How do I repair a broken TCP/IP stack?

netsh > int > ip > reset

although i doubt thats your problem. sounds to me like a typical dns
problem. check your settings and/or use a different dns server

I agree that it sounds like a name resolution problem, but
I had already confirmed that my DNS settings had not
changed, and that I was able to ping the IP address of
both the primary and secondary DNS servers. I had also
tried changing the declared DNS servers in the TCP/IP
properties to point to a local Win2K server that is
running DNS, but that had no effect so it could be argued
that the workstation is not processing DNS requests &
responses properly as easily as one could speculate that
the TCP/IP stack is broken.

Additional Info
My W2K workstation is configured with a static IP. The
only device I can ping by name is the local Win2K server.
Both the server and the workstation connect to the
internet via a router running NAT. I can browse the
Internet from the server, but I can only ping thru the
router from the workstation. All NIC & TCP/IP settings are
correct, but it just doesn't work.
IP addr = 192.168.2.104 (Static)
Subnet = 255.255.255.0
Def GW = 192.168.2.1
DNS1 = 204.127.202.19
DNS2 = 216.148.227.79

Server = 192.168.2.5 (Static)

I tried the commands you suggested...
i.e. netsh > int > ip > reset

However my W2K workstation not like the reset command.
When "reset" is entered the message returned is...

The following commands are available:
Commands in this context:
reset all - Resets configuration.

However, if I enter the command as "reset all" nothing
happens.

WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE????

Hi Allen,

The ipconfig doesn't look good because DNS should not point to external
DNS-servers. It should point to your server-IP only.

Your statement about ipconfig not looking good is not
accurate.

Normally this is a stand alone workstation. Therefore, it
should/must rely upon external/public DNS servers. I only
brought the W2K server into the mix to provide a local
DNS source as a test. When the W2K server is present, the
Win2Kpro workstation can login to the Win2000 server
domain and can ping the server by name, but still name
resolution does not work for any URL on the public
Internet and hence this workstation is unable to browse
the Internet even though the server can browse the
Internet going to the same gateway 192.168.2.1 to the
Internet via a router with NAT.
