Please, could anyone explain to me how to remove xp home
edition,(when its the only operating system on the pc),my
pc has a virus, I want to upgrade to xp professional,

Thanks,

Tony

Upgrading to xp professional isn't going to help you with your virus
problem.

To install xp pro, boot to the xp cd and follow the on screen instructions.
It will allow you to choose whether to upgrade xp home to pro or format and
clean install pro(which unless you get rid of the virus you may want to do).

You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
Click on or copy and paste the link below into your web browser address bar.

Boot off the XP CD and during setup you can create/delete partitions.
Deleting the C: partition will remove XP.
