How to remove 'Side-Bar' on the right

M

MapleE.

Hi:
Ever since I got this PC, side-bar unwittingly popping-up on the
right side of the screen.

There are many different icons sitting on the screen, I need more
space, for that reason I want to eliminate side-bar completely.

Actually, I removed Clock, Weather and such by clicking 'X'
mark, however there is still 'side-bar' on the right sitting.

My question is;
How to remove/eliminate side-bar on the right completely?

Thanks for any help.

Right click on the Sidebar icon in the Systray and select properties.

Uncheck the box at the top that says start Sidebar when Windows starts.

Select OK. Then right click on the Sidebar icon again in the Systray and
choose exit.

The simplest way I can think of (and what I do) is simply right click on
the sidebar icon in the system tray and select "Hide".

I have detached the clock from the sidebar and leave it in the upper
right corner. Otherwise, all the gadgets and the bar itself are
invisible.

Sorry, I should have said "right click on the sidebar itself" and do the
below.

to just hide the sidebar you can right-click a blank spot on sidebar and
select "close sidebar". hitting the sidebar notification icon at bottom of
screen or hitting WindowsKey+spacebar will bring it back. with this
technique the sidebar and any gadgets are still running using cpu and
memory.

to quit it completely right-click the sidebar notification icon at bottom of
screen and selecting "exit". after this to restart it you will have to start
the program from the "assessories" program list.

i have found the "wheather" gadget the only usefull thing on the sidebar for
me, but then i live in minnesota. clicking the "+" button will bring up the
starting selection of "gadgets", 13 of them on my sony. if you pull the
whether gadget off the sidebar it expands to tell the forcast. i exit the
sidebar after checking wheather so as not waste cpu and memory.

Click start and then type in "sidebar properties" in the search box.
then take the check out of the box on top. let me know if this works.
