How to Remove Google Code to Verify

G

Guest

I am really in trouble. I went to the google webmaster forums today and saw
that my site was not verified through them. The site gave me some code to
insert and verify with.

The code was this:
<meta name="verify-v1"
content="F2qCXIKxVh2wdCnFkCVGTiiBLTEpe8+GbxMYvOeSBJM="/>

I inserted it, and now the code is showing up at the top of my website home
page. I have gone to the HTML view and removed the code several times and
republished, but it is still showing up on the internet, but not in Front
Page on my hard drive. I definately do not want this code at the top of my
page.

HELP!!!!!! What can I do to get this code removed. The site is :\
www.tiskettaskets.com

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Rob, but how do I fix the < bracket? I am really in a panic, because
this looks so ugly splashed across the home page of my site.

Try changing
&lt;meta name="verify-v1"
content="F2qCXIKxVh2wdCnFkCVGTiiBLTEpe8+GbxMYvOeSBJM="/>

to

<meta name="verify-v1"
content="F2qCXIKxVh2wdCnFkCVGTiiBLTEpe8+GbxMYvOeSBJM="/>

Thanks Guys, I think I am having an issue with FrontPage rather than it being
me. I can make the changes, save and republish, but for some odd reason, it
is not publishing any changes. I have even removed the code using the HTML
view in Frontpage and it is still showing up after I publish, when I "view
source". It does not show up in the Preview page of FrontPage on my hard
drive. I am at my wit's end.

I finally got the code off my home page, but I had to create a new home page
in order to do it. For some reason, FrontPage just would not make the changes
when I would pulish it. I am not brave enough to try to re-insert the verify
code right now.

Thanks, Marie

Why not? Just copy the Google code again, paste it into Notepad, then copy
from Notepad into the code view of the page if it doesn't appear with the
pointy bracket just don't save the change or manually fix it to a pointy
bracket.

Save the page
then
File | Publish Web/Site (don't use the quick Publish button up top)..

Browse to your website and check it....you may want to hit F5 while there.

Marie,
Google should have another option for you whereby instead of inserting the
code into a page, you can simply add a file to the site (basically showing
you have control over the site since you can obviously upload to it).

IIRC, mine is just on an unlinked blank page in the root.

Thanks guys, I did finally have a friend walk me through how to create a page
in notepad and upload it to the site, and google was able to verify it. Now,
if I can just learn how to interrupt their webmaster tools, I will be happy.

Thanks again and hope everyone has a nice week.
