How to remove all *.tmp files

How can I run a command that will remove all *.tmp files so I can clean out
my temporary files in a variety of places on my entire C drive? Are there
other files (beside the normal IE files) that I should clean up? How would I
do this? I thought at one time there was a command structure for the Delete
command but I didn't want to "run wild" as it may hurt more than it will help.
I think most would reside under the C:\Documents and Settings\ folder.
Can I use this same command on a Windows 2003 SBS server?
TIA!

Right click C drive and click properties, click "disk cleanup", this should
give you the options to clean more than just tmp files for making more room.

Thanks for the quick response. Does this also clean up orphaned Outlook
attachments, Word and Excel temporary files? Does it leave the cookies alone
(I think it does) from Internet browsing? Have you found this useful for
Windows servers also? If you have a program/application installation that
aborts/fails, does it clean up any residual there too?
THanks!

Not sure if it would cleanup outlook attachments or word or excel temporary
files. It sure leaves the cookies which are in use. This works same on
servers as well. If an application installation fails, it is th etask of the
windows installer to cleanup the resedue.

To literally answer you question:
I would open C: in explorer, and hit search.
Then search for *.tmp files. Search will list the files in the results
pane, and you can then select all (CTRL-A) and hit delete (or shift
delete) and remove them.

You can even selectively view what your selecting and remove a few (CTRL
Click). This literally will find *.tmp files and delete them. Not
exactly a practice I would do but its your system and you asked.

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It
removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and
freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online
activities such as your Internet history [this also includes temporary
files]
