How to remove a remnant of a program

I am using a Dell Windows XP Home OS.
I downloaded a demo program and now I want to remove it from the computer .
I was able to remove all of the program except for a portion .
When I try to remove this , I get the following message:
Error Deleting File or Folder: Cannot delete --Shell : Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not
currenetly in use.
How does one remove this portion of the program from the drive?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
