How to Remap a WinXP keyboard

N

I'd like to be able to either remap the keyboard or disable a key. I want
to be able to avoid accidentally pressing the lower left hand "Control" key
while typing. Apparently either Ctrl-A or Ctrl-Z can erase the text being
typed, and it's now very easy on a laptop keyboard to hit Ctrl instead of
shift.

Is there either a function within WindowsXP Home, or a utility or Power Toy
which would let me do so?

If all else fails, you can pop the top off the key.
Use a thin knife to pry up on the key.
If you need the key again, just press down on it.
