You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
Click on or copy and paste the link below into your web browser address bar.

To install Windows 98, you will need a Windows 9x startup floppy which
contains the CD drivers, fdisk, and the other utilities.

1) Boot the machine with the W98 startup floppy, choosing "Start computer
without CD support.
2) Enter fdisk and delete all NON-DOS partitions.
3) Create at least one Primary FAT32 partition (This partition will become
your W98 "C:" drive), set it active, and reboot, leaving the W98 startup
floppy in the drive.
4) This time, startup choosing "Start Windows with CD support"
5) Place Windows 98 CD in the drive
6) Format all the partitions you created in step 3.
7) Leaving the W98 startup floppy and W98 Cd in their drive, reboot, this
time choosing "Start Windows with CD support".
8) Once at the Ram drive (or floppy drive) prompt, log onto the CD (probably
E: -- D: will probably be your Ram drive which contains disk utilities,
unless you created more than one partition, or you have more than one
physical disk).
9) At the CD prompt, enter the command "setup".
10) After W98 setup begins, follow all prompts.

Boot the Win98 startup floppy disk (without CD support) and run its
FDISK
Say Y to 'Large Disk Support?'

Use it to delete the current Primary Partition on the disk (it will be a
'non-DOS' one if XP is installed on NTFS) and make a new DOS Primary one
in its place.

Reboot, this time with CD support, note the drive letter given to it -
probably E: and give

FORMAT C:
E:
to go to the Win98 CD in drive E - other letter if appropriate
SETUP
