How to recover INBOX data

Ughlee

The MS Office Outlook 2007 came installed in my PC (with Vista) when I bought
it in November of 2007. I never used it because I tried to use Outlook some
years ago and it caused a lot of trouble. I was on a Website recently and
wanted to e-mail them a question. When their e-mail feature came on, it was
based on Outlook. I had to fill in an Outlook form in order to e-mail them.
I found myself connected to my Outlook that I had forgotten I had. Well, I
thought, since I was on it I might as well try it and see if it works better
now. What harm could it do?

I entered information on my Comcast screen name, and sure enough, all the
messages stored in my Comcast INBOX appeared in the Outlook screen. I got my
e-mail off. So, following the Outlook instructions as best I could, I
entered the data on my other screen names. I entered them as new “profilesâ€.
If I start Outlook and choose one of them to open, it does open it, but the
messages that were stored in that screen name’s INBOX do not appear on
Outlook. Instead, there is an empty INBOX. I can get only the messages from
the first screen name I entered to appear on Outlook – and that only if I
choose “Outlook†instead of any of the screen names to open. I haven’t been
able to fix that. Well, back to my Comcast.

Then the big shock came. The INBOXes of all my screen names are now empty.
Gone are all my many stored messages. I can see one of the lists on Outlook,
but how can I get it back to my Comcast. But the two others have
disappeared. Where are they and how can I get them back? I can’t even find
files or folders with “Outlook†in their names among my Program Files. Help!

Do you mean that you have a number of Comcast addresses?
If so in the origonal outlook profile, the one in which all your comcast
mail is shown, use the add accounts option to add these email addresses.
Though if *all* your mail appears in this inbox then it would appear these
addresses are not unique but are simply catchall addresses - for them to be
unique they would have seperate passwords

1. do you have catchall addresses or do they use totally different user
names and passwords to get mail? Outlook works on mailbox accounts, not
individual addresses.
2. Unless you set outlook (or any mail client) to leave mail on the server,
its going to delete it. You can't put it back (other than by resending all
the mail to yourself) unless you have imap access to your acct.
