I need to record part of a song as it plays from Itunes. Not hte whole thing,
just about 20 seconds in the middle. I have NEVER been good with recording
music... Never really understood how, so I was wondering if someone can
explain to me how to do it, preferably using a free method (free programs off
the net, or programs that come with Windows)

Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is a free audio recording
and processing program. You should be able to install Audacity, tell
it to record from your audio card (the method you'd use for streaming
audio, which I guess is what you're talking about), then switch it
into record mode as the bit you want comes up. You could then edit out
anything extraneous that got in. If you clicked "record" a bit early,
for instance, you could get rid of the stuff before the part you want.
