Using win XP on a Dell how do I reboot and get into the startup menu. I
believe it's F8 or F10. Ill try both.
I did win xp sp2 update then did updates after and installed them. My
computer is now screwed. I believe it was the video card update though I am
unsure.
I want to do a restore from previous point prior to update.

Its the F8 key. Press it between the BIOS Post screen and XP actually starting to load.

I take it you mean Safe Mode? Reboot your pc. As the memory is being checked
repeatedly tap the F8 key until a menu appears. If you get the Windows
splash screen then you have missed the chance. Getting to safe mode this way
is nto an exact science so you may have to try a few times before you get it
just right. Once at the menu select the top option which is Safe Mode

thanks guys that did it.I was clicking F8 at the win xp screen not
before. It's been a long time since I needed this info.
Now to find out why the 2nd set of updates screwed up the win xp. I think
it's the video driver for nvidia.I have time tomorrow to fix .thanks again.
