How to re-register Windows XP

H

Hank

Hello all:

I bought an open-box laptop recently, which is brand new,
except that the person who originally bought the computer
registered Windows in his name. This is not a huge deal,
as the computer is completely new and for the most part
unused; however, now all my personal settings go into a
folder with the previous owner's name.

Is there a way to re-register this copy of Windows? If
not, will reinstalling Windows XP completely do the
trick? I attempted an upgrade with the XP Install disc,
but it did not ask me to re-register.

Thanks in advance,

Hank

Microsoft Registration: Start > Run and type: REGWIZ /R ,
and hit enter.

Thanks, that program worked great!

The only problem is that my Documents and Settings folder
still has the other guy's name on it. Any way to change
this as well?

Thanks again!

Hank
