How to prevent file conversion

This is a strange question but I have a user who insists on staying in Word
and using the File/Open dialog to open all of her Office files (Excel,
Powerpoint, etc). Is there a way to force, say, Excel to open from that
dialog for an Excel file, etc?

Take the user on one side and advise that if they can't do the job they are
being paid for it might be better if they worked elsewhere. This is a
training issue.

Hi Tony,

If she's using the 'show all files' option then the user could
right click on say a Powerpoint item and choose 'Open With' to
bypass Word trying to be in control of its own open dialog <g>.
