Problem when opening a file by double-click

Just upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007. When I try to open an existing Word
or Excel file by double-clicking the file, Word or Excel opens up but the
file doesn't display. As soon as I click on the Button, the file then
displays...but of course, the Button menu opens as well, forcing me to press
Escape to get rid of it. Why doesn't the file just display? I don't seem to
have the issue with PowerPoint, but only Word or Excel. It happens no matter
which version of the app the file was saved in. I don't believe there's a
setting for this kind of thing.

Sorry, your link doesn't describe my problem. Please read the original email
again.

There is no error message, only a blank screen. The problem only happens if
I double-click on a file, not when I use "File-Open" from within Word. It
happens with files created with Word 2003 as well as Word 2007.

It may not describe your problem, but it should fix it.

Seems to work with Word...thanks! Can you tell me why this happened, with a
new upgrade from 2003?

Part 2 of the problem: your solution does not work for Excel. Same problem.
What can I do for Excel.

Never mind, found it on the web. I had to add the "Lookup Wizard" add-in.
Then the files appeared instantly when opened with a double-click.
