Unfortuantely germans do net get the chance to
a) post messages in microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop
- the newsgroup still does not show up on the server
news.microsoft.com/msnew.microsoft.com
- google groups does not have this newsgroup
- the ms online reader:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...dg=microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop
does not allow me to make new posts, in in ie6 I get a javascript error
(line 2 Col 70) when I try to create a new post (I am logged in correctly),
in firefox that button is not clickable (nothing happens when I click)

b) particiapte in the beta of WLMD ?
- for germans there doesn't seem to be a download link anywhere
- when I download it from 3rd party websites and install it I can not login
beacuse my passport account is not registered

When are a) and b) resolved ?

Why not? Certainly the availibility of that newsgroup does not depend
on nationality. ;-)

news.microsoft.com/msnew.microsoft.com

Yes, it does. Since you are using Outlook Express (OE), try resetting
your newsgroup list.
- google groups does not have this newsgroup

That's to be expected, since the group was created only few days ago.
It always takes Google some time to start monitoring new groups. Did
you report it to them?

It might well be that this website is not compatible with Firefox; many
MS websites are, unfortunately. In IE 6, you might try putting the site
in your list of trusted sites.

You have to create a Hotmail passport account which states to be from
the United States. This has been described in detail in this group
already, from MVP Frank Saunders, I believe to recall.
- when I download it from 3rd party websites

You should /never/ download such software from 3rd party websites! How
could you know what you truly get?

Roland

P.S.: If you are posting in German newsgroups, too, please configure OE
for newsgroup messages to use MIME, text encoding: None. Thank you!

P.P.S.: There is a quite important update available for OE; I recommend
the installation. See this website here for details:

I'n assuming that the newsgroup issue may be related to a propagation delay.
Your java error on the webnews issue may mean you need to reinstall java to get
this working.
You should change your Passport location to a different locale, such as US, if
you really must have a peek at the beta and then sign into http://ideas.live.com
with that Passport. Personally, I would wait for availability and a newer build
as the current build is still quite buggy!

Thank you for that information and for the link to the patch
P.S.: If you are posting in German newsgroups, too, please configure OE
for newsgroup messages to use MIME, text encoding: None. Thank you!

Why? (oh, and how ?) :)
