I cannot open my excel 2003 shreasheet using excel 2007. Does the size of
the document have anything to do with opening it?

No. Size does not matter. What error do you get when you try to open it?

Regards,
Fred.

Did you try opening Excel first then try opening your 2003 file? it works for
me.

Paul, I have the same dilemma with all Office 2003 documents trying to open
them in Office 2007. If I try to open them from an email or Windows Explorer,
it opens the app (Word, Excel, etc) without opening the document. The only
way I can open the document is to open the app first. My file associations
appear correct for .XLS, .DOC, etc.

Anyone out there familiar with this issue? I wasn't able to find a
solution on the KB.

I have no issues opening Office 2007 documents, only the Office 2003 ones.

P.S. - The solution below did not help me either.......

Symptoms
You are having problems opening a Microsoft Office Excel workbook from
another program, such as Windows Explorer or Microsoft Office Outlook.

Cause
Office Excel is ignoring requests from programs that link to Excel data by
means of Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) (Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE): An
established protocol for exchanging data between Microsoft Windows-based
programs.).

Resolution
In Excel, click the Microsoft Office Button , click Excel Options, click the
Advanced category, and then under the General section, clear the Ignore other
applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) check box.
