How to open an unavailable word doc?

I saved a document in Word and when attempting to re-open the document it
states that "The file (name) is unavailable. Does anyone know what to do or
how to fix the problem?

1. Open Norton AntiVirus (right-click on the Systray icon and choose this
option).

2. Click on the Options button at the top of the dialog.

3. In the Options dialog, click on Miscellaneous (menu on the left)

4. Clear the check box for "Enable Office Plug-in."

5. OK out and close NAV.

"hey thanks, I had uninstalled the Norton product, so I am not sure that is
the problem I still have lost access to my saved files. thanks for the info
tho

If Norton AV was installed at one time then the DLL for the Office
Plug-in could still be registered.

Search for : officeav.dll

If you find it then go to Start/Run and run the following command:

regsvr32 /u "<path>\officeav.dll"

Here is a KB article that provides a few additional details. It does
not include information on Norton CE but it will contain additional
details on the unregister command if you need them:
