How to open a doc on my website.

I want to store Word docs on my website (I know how to do
that using an FTP client) but I don't know how to OPEN
them in Word for editing.

The Open dialogue box 'My Network Places' and then 'Web
Client Network' seems to be the place, but when I click
on it there is nothing there nor can I 'create' a
location.

Also in the Open dialogue box drop down list box there is
an Add/Modify FTP locations icon which when double-
clicked opens an Add/Modify FTP locations dialogue box.
However no matter what I enter there it will not open the
location.

Once you've added the FTP location, you just select it as you would any
other folder and open the documents therein.

I have used the 'Add a network place' wizard to 'add the
FTP location' but when I try to connect it will not Log
in. The message simply says 'Cannot Log in with User name
and Password'. I have tried every combination that might
work based on the values in my FTP client.

I have asked my web host if this is possible and was told
I can only connect using an FTP client.
I do have an FTP client, no problem there, but of course
I want to open using Word. The support guy at my host
probably does not know Word's capabilities, none the less
I am stuck.

I can't tell you how to do this, I'm afraid, because I only figured it out
by much trial and error--and only *after* I ceased to need the feature.
IIRC, you put the username in the wizard but have to enter your password
every time you connect (and of course it helps to have an Internet
connection already when you do this). When I doubleclick on an FTP site, I
get a dialog box with my username filled in and asking for my password.
