how to number headings without tab stop before heading text

When headings are numbered, Word inserts a tab stop after the number ebfore
the heading text. Is it possible to override this in some way so that the
heading text is immediately after the numbering?

i.e.

1. Introduction
2. Second section
10. Tenth section
100. One hundredth section

Place the insertion point in a Heading 1 paragraph. Display the Modify
Style dialog box (see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/ModifyAStyle.html). Choose
Format>Numbering. Click Customize.

In the Customize Outline Numbered List dialog box, click the More
button. At "Follow number with", choose "Nothing" (or possibly
"Space"). Repeat for each numbering level.
