How to Network 2 computers thru Router w/broadband cable modem (road runner)

Help!

I have two windows xp pro computers that I want to
network to share a single broadband cable modem
connection. Both computers have network cards installed
and connected to the router. The cable modem is plugged
into the WAN port.

Road Runner customized my internet explorer so it could
connect to the cable modem but doesnt see the router when
I type in the IP address.

Will the network wizard help me to connect to the WAN
through the router? If so how?

Thanks

This is what we did:

First, I recommend that you change the password on your
router. And change the IP address of the router to a dot
10 IPA for security reasons.

Then we configured our LinkSys router as DHCP server so
our XP boxes get their IP from the router. Example: We
set the IPA on our router to *10.10.10.5, the DHCP
address range to 10.10.10.1 - 10.10.10.5 and the number
of DHCP clients to 4 (we have 4 XP systems). *These
IPA's are just used for purposes of example so you can
set your own. When this is done and working properly,
you have a LAN.

Next configure IE to connect to the internet through your
LAN instead of whatever RR setup. That should do it.

We've used this configuration for about 2 years and it
works great - and we recently went wireless - great for
our laptops!

Hope this helps.
