How to move offline file cache back to default loacal My Documents location?

Shawn

I want to turn off folder redirection and move the cached Offline files
back to the Desktop and My Documents folder on the local machine. We
had a server crash and I would rather not use Folder Redirection at this
time. I had a Group Policy on the old server that sent a certain groups
files to a secure location on the old server. Files and Folders on the
Desktop and My Documents are now read-only. The user has to copy it to
another location to work on it. Even if I disable it they still have
Synchronization Problems. Under Properties of My Documents it shows the
location of My Documents but there is no way to change the Target back
to default on a machine whose user of a member of that group. Please
provide any info on how to move the Offine cache back to the default
location of My Documents and the Desktop and to turn off synchronization.

Thanks,

Shawn

Hi Shawn,

Are you sure it was a GP or just a batch file that "sent a certain
groups files to a secure location on the old server"? If it's a GP, you
need to have the network administrator remove it. If it's just a batch
file in Scheduled Tasks or in Startup or Shutdown scripts in the local
CP (Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Scripts (Startup/Shutdown)),
you can disable that yourself.

Did you check in Explorer (Tools, Folder Options, Offline Files tab) and
see if you can disable OF? MAKE SURE you have a good backup before
messing with OF. I have seen users lose everything making changes this way.
