There are many ways to create .msi files. It sounds like you are trying to
capture a non-msi installation. In this case it is usually recommended that
you use a PC that is clean, so your before and after snapshots collect as
little extraneous garbage as possible.
The software usually creates the msi package as a difference between a
snapshot of your system before installation and a snapshot after
installation.
